Townsville's Day Surgery was a creation during 2003 and was based on a definite need to establish a quality surgical unit, to provide a more personalised service, to provide an alternative to the major hospitals in our Northern region.
As the “Facility Manager” of the Townsville's Day Surgery unit, along with the help of our professional Staff, it is our united role to actively promote safe, same day surgery and provide the most modern theatre equipment embracing up to date technology, some of which is unique to our district.
We provide a wide range of surgical, endoscopic and dental services, from these modern facilities and comfortable surroundings. Townsville's Day Surgery is foremost in the delivery of first class care.
In keeping with this philosophy the nursing staff is trained to deliver the best, most effective peri-operative care always in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Townsville's Day Surgery has established strong links and contracts with all major health insurance providers along with a reasonable rate structure for the uninsured. Quality Private Day Surgery is now available to all members of our community and is provided with a deep respect for personal dignity and privacy with consideration given to your individual requirements.

STEPHEN FAIRLEY (MBBS, FRACP)
Member Gastroenterological Society of Australia, Member American Gastroenterological Society.
Stephen Fairley is a highly experienced Endoscopist who trained in Melbourne . He has been practicing Gastroenterology in Townsville for over 17 years. Stephen has four children who all attend school locally and in his spare time he enjoys family life on the farm, camping and fishing. He performs Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy at Townsville Day Surgery.
Dr Fairley holds a professional association with the Crohn's and Colitis Association and is committed to including research in a busy clinical schedule. He holds a particular interest in therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy, providing care and relief for patients living with Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, Coeliac disease and polyposis syndromes.

AJAY RANE ( MBBS , MD , FRCS, FRCOG, FRANZCOG, CU)
Townsville Day Surgery is proud to be associated with eminent Urogynaecologist, Professor Ajay Rane. He is the Professor and Head of Department in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the James Cook University School of Medicine and Director of Urogynaecology at the Townsville Hospital .
Professor Ajay Rane specializes in minimally invasive surgery for urinary incontinence, genital prolapse and fistulas. He has personally designed an operation called Perigee for bladder prolapse. Professor Rane devotes many hours to research and he travels all over the world demonstrating his minimally invasive surgeries which in 97% of cases are now done as ambulatory day care surgery.

With over 13 years experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr Chang provides hope and guidance for patients interested in fertility with the emphasis on personalized care. He has a particular interest in fertility preservation in cancer patients. His calm and friendly nature, coupled with a positive approach make him a popular doctor in the Northern Queensland region.

Neil fully appreciates that being a Hughenden boy enables him to hold the title of a true North Queenslander. Neil graduated from the University of Queensland Dental Faculty during 1972 and immediately commenced in the provision of dental services to North Queenslanders, based in Townsville, with the emphasis on conserving and re-building patients' teeth.

Professor Bob Jones is an Associate Professor at James Cook University Medical School and amongst his other appointments he is a Visiting Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at the University Teaching Hospital, Dhaka Bangladesh .
He is a member of the Australian Dental Association, the Australian and New Zealand Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the European Association of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Asian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
He is a past President of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, a past councilor of the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and is currently a member of the Board Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery RACDS, and Chairman of the Education Committee.

STEVE MOKRZECKI (FRANZCOG, MBBS BSc.)
Steve's vast experiences in Gynaecology commenced during 1997, based in Townsville, with special interest in women's infertility. Joining the Monash IVF group in 2005 and firmly establishing a centre for the North, Steve has worked tirelessly in providing valuable assistance to the people of the North. Steve is a family man with 4 children.

As a specialist Obstetric Gynaecologist, Dr Lucy Pallis is a strong proponent of quality care in women's health. At Townsville Day Surgery she provides a safe and sensitive approach to all aspects of women's health, adopting a philosophy of active listening and working with the patient for better outcomes.

Dr Price has been practicing as an Orthopaedic Surgeon in Townsville for 8 years. He holds a particular interest in lower limb and hand surgery. In his spare time he enjoys the challenges of competitive rowing.

Dr Stuart Lavender, B Sc, MBChB, FRCA, FANZCA Director of Anaesthetics
Dr Lavender graduated from Birmingham University in the UK in the mid-1980s. He practiced in England for 4 years prior to migrating to New Zealand where he specialised in anaesthetics prior to moving to Townsville in 1994.
He has an interest in cardiac medicine and medical research.
He currently holds the position of Director of Anaesthetics at TDS, is Chairperson of the Townsville Day Surgery Medical Advisory Committee, is a Visiting Medical Officer at The Townsville Hospital and is a Director of Townsville Independent Anaesthetists.
Away from medicine, he is a family man whose interests include restoring old cars and bushwalking.
